Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma had a dream to become an actor from the age of aged six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy with part-time courses. She had already performed in numerous Stagecoach or school shows when she was 10 years old. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was identified by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. After eight consistent auditions director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in 2001. The film is 2001's top grossing film, breaking records at the opening and first weekend. The film was praised by critics, as were the performance of three starlets. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British paper, praised her for her exceptional performance. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for the Feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her part in the film.
